Best Baseball Bats For $400+
1. DeMarini 2020 CF (-3) BBCOR Baseball Bat
With a composite barrel, this two-piece bat has improved weight distribution which is ideal for great balance, speed and control. It is designed with DeMarini’s 3Fushion connection which aids in weight control, reduces vibrations, and redirects energy back to the barrel. New on the 2020 model is the ReAction End Cap which is built with stronger, lighter materials.
These materials are designed to increase barrel performance without sacrificing swing speed. Depending on the size, this bat has a mass index of 640-985. It is a balanced bat build for speed, feel, and performance. It is available in lengths 30”-34”. DeMarini offers a one year manufacturer’s warranty if purchased through an authorized dealer.
This is definitely a fantastic bat. It is consistently responsive with a huge sweet spot, easy for any player to find. The barrel is massive which requires a large break-in period. This break-in period could be 150 hits to 250 hits.
Before the break in period, the bat is underwhelming. After this break-in period, the bat is exceptional with light swinging, more pop, and significant exit velocity. With great flexibility, this bat feels amazing when you square up and hit a long, hard drive. It feels amazing when you send one flying over the fence as well.
A common complaint on this bat is that it is not very durable. DeMarini built this barrel close to the limit in exit speeds which has caused the bat to crack over time, sooner than would be liked. This is true in all previous models of this bat. However, DeMarini has taken this into account and made a new end cap, the ReAction End Cap, to make it more durable.
We definitely recommend this bat if you want a lighter swing, decreased feedback, and a massive pop. This bat is comparable to the next bat on the list, the Louisville Slugger 2020 Meta.
- Hand responds to hits and mishits alike
- Connection piece makes for a smooth smash
- Slippery grip when gloves aren’t used
2. Louisville Slugger 2020 Meta (-3) BBCOR Baseball Bat
An improvement from the 2019 to the 2020 Meta is an EKO composite barrel. It has a huge barrel with a monster sweet spot. It has a three-piece design with Louisville Slugger’s 3FX connection system. At the end of the barrel is the rtx end cap which gives the bat a balanced swing. It is offered in 31”-34”.
However, the 33” has been banned in high school and collegiate games. With a mass index of 730-1040, it has a colorful blue and silver design. This bat comes with a one year warranty if purchased from an authorized dealer.
This bat is a major contender to the best bat on the market. It has the largest barrel length in all BBCOR bats and is great for collegiate play. The ball just seems to jump off the bat and has the truest sound in the game. We love the grip on this bat.
It has a perfect mix of tack and cushion with a perfectly tuned “stiff” feel on contact while dramatically reducing vibration. If you play hard, this bat will play hard for you. It makes most of your strength to boost your game.
Compared to other bats, the Louisville Slugger 2020 Meta has unmatched responsiveness with a very short break-in period. It is almost ready straight out of the wrapper. It is very well-balanced and light and will most definitely increase hitter’s confidence. It is Louisville Slugger’s best bat, hands down.
- Short break-in period
- Large barrel length for extra large sweet spot
- 33” has been banned

3. Rawling 2020 Quatro Pro Baseball Bat
The Quatro Pro is a two piece carbon fiber composite bat. The composite material is utilized for optimal balance. This bat is BOAR .50 certified for NCAA and NFHS. The end cap reduces swing weight and the barrel is massive. The barrel has an inner barrel that is strategically placed and suspended.
It is designed to easily swing through when contact is made with the ball. The unique two piece design is supposed to drive the trampoline effect at slower impact speeds. This bat is available in 31”-34”.
First, there is not much difference between the Quatro Pro 2019 and 2020 models when looking at the BBCOR design; however, we love this 2020 bat for smaller, older players. It is great for batters who need to improve their bat speed.
With the massive barrel size, it is a perfect combination of speed and power. Rawlings claims the two piece design drives the trampoline effect and we can’t argue. The ball seems to fly off this bat with blazing fast exit speeds. The two-piece design also reduces vibration.
The 2020 offers lizard skin grip which is great for smaller hands. This bat has an amazing pop with a big sound. There have been questions about durability as the 2019 wasn’t terribly durable. At this time, the 2020 doesn’t seem to have those issues and we hope this is an improvement because this is an ideal bat for smaller players.
This bat features on our best youth baseball bats post for 2020.
- Swing weight
- Barrel size
- Ready out of the wrapper
- Some of the 2019 version have separated at connection
4. Marucci CAT 8 Connect Black BBCOR Baseball Bat
The CAT 8 Connect is Marucci’s two-piece hybrid bat that is good for every type of hitter. It has an alloy barrel and composite handle. It is balanced with precision and has multivariable walls that are designed to expand the sweet spot and be more forgiving after a mishit. This bat barrel is made from AZ105 alloy which is Marucci’s strongest aluminum.
This alloy enables Marucci to create stronger walls in the barrel which then gives a higher response rate and better durability. The AZ105 alloy is an improvement from the CAT 7. Between the barrel and the handle is a SDX EXT connection. This connection increases the stiffness to maintain the energy transfer to the ball.
It also helps diminish the negative vibrations to the hands. This bat comes with a one-year warranty just like the Meta and the DeMarini CF.
The CAT 8 Connect also comes in white, however, we choose the black as one of the best bats in 2020 because the NCAA prohibits white barrel bats beginning in the 2020 season. We love the clean look of this bat!
This bat made our top 10 best baseball bat list because of the durability and similarity to a wood bat. Hitting with this bat is just like hitting a wood bat but with a ping. It has fantastic pop and it is ready to hit right out of the wrapper. This bat feels like an end loaded bat but it is not an end loaded bat.
Marucci claims that this bat has an ultra-responsive barrel and we would have to agree. We feel that this bat gives maximum power with a minimum swing. As we swung this bat and hit balls, we could not find any dead spots. We also love the feel of the micro perforated soft-touch grip we feel that is extra tacky. It is such a versatile bat for any batter.
- Expanded sweet spot
- No dead spots
- Too stiff for a 2 piece
Best Baseball Bats For $200-$300
5. Victus Vandal Black/White/Gold Baseball Bat
Although Victus is known for wood bats, they are stepping into the metal bat league with the Vandal. This BBCOR bat is a one piece aluminum hybrid bat. It has a carbon composite barrel-end similar to an end cap. This one piece hybrid bat is not a new design, the Rawlings Velo has this same design.
It has a ringless barrel with multivariable wall thickness. It has a pro-tapered handle shape which gives the top hand control and an ergonomic fit for comfort. A micro perforated soft-touch grip takes away stinging in the hands. This bat comes with a one year warranty from Victus.
The one piece design with the composite barrel end has really balanced this bat. Our batters feel like the sweet spot on this bat is unmatched in comparison with other BBCOR bats. It is the lightest BBCOR bat which makes it ideal for smaller players to get bat into the zone.
We also feel that this bat would be great for new players who are facing faster pitches. With a full, outstanding response, the Vandal is comparable to a wood bat that the pros use.
This bat isn’t perfect, however, power hitters and older players won’t like this bat because it is so light. The pop isn’t great and a thicker handle, which is ideal for smaller players, is troublesome for bigger players.
- Lightest BBCOR bat
- Incomparable sweet spot
- Lacks pop
- Thick handle not ideal for big hand
6. DeMarini 2020 The Goods BBCOR Baseball Bat
Built for power hitters, this one piece alloy bat has been built for maximum stiffness and extreme bat speeds. The barrel is designed for max pop and durability using x14 alloy which DeMarini uses on several other one piece bats in their collection. A newly redone end cap now increases barrel performance without sacrificing wing speed.
This reaction end cap maximizes the sweet spot and redirects the power back into the ball when a connection is made. This bat has a moderate end load. Available in 32”-34”, this bat has a mass index of 855-1055. This bat is offered a one year warranty through DeMarini.
You can’t go wrong with The Goods from DeMarini. Whether you are looking at the one-piece or the hard to find two piece, we love The Goods. The one piece has a feel similar to a wood bat, just like the Cat 8 Connect, however this bat is not as expensive.
This bat is hot right out of the wrapper delivering pretty solid pop and carry distance. This is because it has a moderate end load that is ideal for batters that are reaching for the fence when stepping up to the plate.
Our batters really liked that they could feel the whip of the bat so they knew they were in the zone. The snap through the zone is exquisite and when the Goods OnePiece makes connection with the ball, it has huge exit velocities.
We feel that the barrel delivers a bigger range for a large sweet spot. This bat is optimal for the batter that wants some end load, no flex, but a traditional feel and pop.
- Moderate end load for power hitters
- Feel similar to wood bats
- Hot out of wrapper
- Quite a bit of vibration in the grip
- Not much forgiveness on mishits
Best Baseball Bats For $100-$200
7. Rawlings 2020 Velo ACP Baseball Bat
The 2020 Velo is offered in many sizes for many leagues. It is offered in USA, USSSA, and BBCOR. For the BBCOR model, this bat is offered in lengths of 31”-34”. It is the first bat with ACP, accelerated carbon performance. ACP creates the lightest swing possible.
The 2” carbon composite end barrel is what makes this bat ACP. Powered by urethane infused fibers, this bat is armed with vibration reduction.
This bat is so unique and quite difficult to describe in terms of weight. The bat has some weight to it but when it is swung, it feels so light. We think this is because all of the weight is concentrated in the right spot to get that light feel. With the lighter feel, our batters were able to swing faster.
This bat is unique because it is a one piece hybrid. The carbon composite end barrel increases the sweet spot and gives the barrel some flexibility. The sweet spot is marked with a laser grove. The ball is super responsive and shoots off the bat. Rawlings claims that the urethane infused fibers reduce vibration and we would say that this is true. There are minimal aftershocks after any connection, including mishits.
If you’re looking for a bat that is great for any hitter in any position in the line up, this one’s for you!
- Light feel allows you to size up
- Super responsive
8. Louisville Slugger 2020 Omaha Baseball Bat
This one piece alloy bat has stood the test of time. It is offered in the USA, USSSA, and BBCOR specifications. In the BBCOR, it is offered 29”-34” lengths. The 2020 version is pretty much the same as the 2019 version which is why it has stood the test of time. The difference in the 2020 version only takes place in the 33” and 34” bats.
These bats are designed for a heavy swing while the 29”-32” are built with a light swing in mind. If you aren’t familiar with the specs of the Omaha, it is built out of MX7U1+ alloy which increases the stiffness. The VIBEX premium vibration handle is designed to dampen the vibration.
It has a 6 Star end cap and the LS pro comfort grip handle. The Omaha measures at a mass index of 575-1100.
Why is this Louisville Slugger on the list of best bats of 2020? Value! This bat is the best bang for your buck. It is in a comfortable price range for parents but doesn’t sacrifice any qualities. It is a legit option for novice and expert players.
The light weight swing is average to low average weight. The big barrel has a sweet spot that feels great when connection is made. One downfall of this bat is that it does sting when you miss the sweet spot. It is durable and versatile as it can be used for years! It is a very popular bat for any age.
The BBCOR version is popular with freshmen in high school all the way through the NCAA. What makes this bat so popular is the reasonable price point and wide length ranges.
- Light swing
- Stings on mishits
Best Baseball Bats For Under $100
9. Easton Project 3 Alpha Baseball Bat
Strictly for the BBCOR market, this one piece alloy bat is reinforced with a carbon core which allows it to have a longer barrel. There is a lizard skin grip that was just for Louisville Sluggers but now can be found on Easton bats. This one piece has a stiff feel and is reasonably priced.
Available in lengths of 29”-33”, the Alpha has a power-balanced feel and a VRSCOR handle insert that reinforces the handle. The speed cap provides a more responsive barrel with a natural sound on impact. There is more mass in the barrel which adds to power and control. Easton also offers the Project 3 Alpha in an XL and Lock and Loaded model.
The XL is offered in lengths of 32”-34” and is end weighted. The Lock and Loaded model offers a variable balanced weight.
Last year’s bat on this year’s best list? Absolutely! How can you not add it to the list when the price is reasonable and the construction is traditional which is great for bat control. This bat was popular in the 2018 College World Series before it was released to the high-school players.
It has more pop for a lower price and the ball comes smooth off the barrel. The lizard grip is great for reducing sting as there is virtually none when you mishit. One downfall of this bat is the lizard grip as it is not very durable and comes off easily. It also lacks in bat swing speed.
However, we love the power-balanced feel and control this bat contains. The reinforced handle creates extra durability with little record of cracking or denting. This bat looks sleek and stunning.
- Power-balanced feel
- Smooth off the barrel
- Poor durability in lizard skin grip
- Lacks in bat swing speed
10. Mizuno Maple Elite Baseball Bat
With a bit of a bigger barrel design, this wood bat is made from rock hard maple that is hand selected to ensure the top quality material. It has a cupped end for a lighter swing weight and a Supra-Helix grip already installed on the bat. This bat has 110 bat turn and comes in 31”-34” lengths with a 2 ½ inch barrel diameter.
As with most wood bats, there is no warranty offered but the thick handle offers durability. The bigger barrel design gives this Maple Elite a bigger sweet spot and a slightly end-loaded feel.
No “Best Baseball Bat” list would be complete without a wood bat. Whether you are looking for a wood bat for game play in a metal league, a wood bat in a wood bat league, or as an off-season training bat, this bat will deliver.
Keep in mind, wood bats generally are not categorized by drop weight because the wood density can fluctuate by bat. However, Mizuno has said this bat can have a drop weight from (-3) to (-2.5).
We love multiple aspects of this bat. It sounds great with a solid crack and we feel like it is an astonishing value for a solid maple. It already comes with a grip installed which will save money in the end. The Maple Elite is a great transition bat if you or your player is moving from metal bats to wood bats.
We feel this bat is ideal for a contact hitter and this bat looks sweet with the matte finish and furniture grade polish.
Please keep in mind that if you are transitioning to wood bats that wood bats to not last as long as metal bats.
- Great transition bat
- Unbelievable value for solid maple
- Comes with a grip already installed.
- Grip can come off
- Can come with shipping deficiencies
